Even in retirement it’s getting harder to plan a fishing getaway. I started looking into available cabins at Lake of the Ozarks for this coming May and ended up coming across an article about how the lake there is now a toxic soup of agricultural run-off and industrial waste. I was disappointed that such a beautiful lake could be trashed like that. Are we going to turn all of our lakes into Salton Seas?
The use of “lay” vs. “lie” can be tricky and confusing. I remember when I came home from middle school years ago with english homework; my father read some of it and burst out laughing. I didn’t know why….it was “pick the correct word to complete this sentence (lain or laid in this case)” type work. I picked laid, so the sentence read “The poor old lady was LAID on the couch.”

You could always use your nose as a snorkel, like elephants do.
