Hard to understand context when you’re very young… and very old. In the middle there are years of trivia contests in bars.
I worked 35 years as a geophysicist; and never once did I wish I had paid attention in that calculus course.
Not a day goes by that I don’t use algebra, calculus, differential geometry, etc. Shakespeare was and is still a waste.
