Unless you’re on the frontline of a war somewhere there’s nowhere else they should be allowed.

But with no AR-15 how are going to hunt deer, those things are dangerous?

Such weapons belong in the hands of trained military and such, not your average citizen. The only use for guns like that is to kill people. Well, there was that 50 caliber used to test various things on MythBusters. I will admit it was fun to watch them chop a tree down with a Gatling gun (IIRC).

I am thinking of a Gary Larson “Far Side” cartoon. If the deer and bears are packing AK-47’s, what do I need to carry when hunting in the forest? At least it evens the odds.

The Second Amendment begins with the phrase “A well regulated Militia”. This phrase sets the context for the amendment which is the right to belong to a state militia, what we now call the National Guard. All of the guns can be safely stored at the National Guard armory.

Hand guns kill more people by far, including mass shootings. And AR 15s have been used to stop mass shootings, both by hand guns and other AR 15s.

Also all rifles, not just AR 15s, kill fewer people than hands and feet per FBI.

Finally, as to a hunting rifle, they are the preferred rifle, because they are light, reliable, and easy to use.

A federal appeals court has just upheld Illinois’ ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines, saying the ban was in accordance with the first part of the Supreme Court’s 2022 two-part ruling on guns, which made the ban legal. The court said that there are societal restrictions on other constitutional actions and having them on certain weapons is not unreasonable and unconstitutional.

Maybe we should sell AR-15’s without firing pins. Make that an accessory for say, oh, $10K.

No one in a civilized country needs to own a gun. Therefore, every American should buy one.

President Biden, in a speech in Philly – “Do you realize the bullet out of an AR-15 travels five times as rapidly as a bullet shot out of any other gun?” Biden asked rhetorically during his speech. This is why people that are clueless about anything in the industry should not be making laws to restrict legitimate gun owners.

I need a machine gun because everyone I see in the street every day in every town WANTS TO KILL YOU. Soft-head liberals don’t get this. Better to shoot first than be dead. GET A CLUE!

The mis-information about firearms that is spouted off here is appalling.Once again we have experts with no expertise trying to run the show.

An AR15 is not an assault rifle. You cannot solve an issue if you can’t identify the problem.

If might not fight you if you come to take my AR-15 and my .45 away from me if you increase the length of my d!ck 6 inches (at least) to make up for it.

If you need an AR-15 to kill a deer, elk, or rabbit you are not qualified to hunt.

In Tennessee, the minimum caliber for deer is .24 or larger. .223 would be prohibited under that rule.
