    Record corporate profits = inflation.

Record corporate profits and begging Saudi Arabia and Russia to cut oil production = higher prices at the pump.

And, of course, market concentration has NO effect on inflation whatsoever. Zero, zip, nada.

Ask any Republican and they will swear that’s absolutely true. And there is no such thing as increasing wealth inequality.

Weak diversionary prevarication trying to change the good economic news of the day. Bidenomics is actually working and the right wing deviants trying their best to destroy the economy are losing their narrow minds

US annual inflation posts smallest rise in more than two years

By Lucia Mutikani WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Annual U.S. inflation rose at its slowest pace in more than two years in June, with underlying price pressures receding, a trend that, if sustained, could push the Federal Reserve closer to ending its fastest interest rate hiking cycle since the 1980s. The improving inflation environment was reinforced by other data on Friday showing labor costs posted their smallest increase in two years in the second quarter as wage growth cooled. Inflation? Hah, any reason will do. Pandemic over… why is the price of TP still more than double the prior cost?

What happened to the cost push and demand pull theories of inflation? Raising interest rates isn’t going to bring Russia into line or heat and drought affects on food production down.

Fun fact: The US spends anywhere from two three times as much on corporate welfare than on public assistance.

    [ sarcasm mode: ON ]

Must be time to increase the stipend to corporations so they can help offset the inflationary spiral!

I don’t keep track of the trolls, but I know that some here do. It sounds as if right-winger 1BlackLivesMatter is the same as the old troll 1StrongBlackWoman. Has anyone checked the ID numbers?

Rising prices is great for government. Increase of cost means people demand more money for work. This increases income tax revenue. And the higher costs increase sales tax revenue. Businesses raise prices to offset these “cost of doing business”. Any theft also increases cost of goods – insurance and just to offset the theft loss. Businesses still keep their profits. Government gets more tax revenue. This is a cyclic issue.

Problem is that government is happy. Business continues, and the people pay and complain. We need to think differently about who is voted in office, and both major parties are doing this to the people.
