If Cannon is removed from the case and replaced with a judge perceived as a liberal, that will give the right-wing a way to accuse the left-wing of manipulating the trial if he is convicted. Conversely, if Cannon remains and Trump is convicted that propaganda trope won’t obtain.

Judge Cannon may prove to be too much on Trump’s side, but in a sense, the judge is supposed to protect the rights of the accused. Being merely an unbiased arbiter is not enough for a judge to carry out his/her duties in a trial. We only need to be concerned if her leanings seem to be based on her personal feelings and not her dedication toward the accused and the protection of his rights.
