Well he apparently communicated quite well with his last goldfish Gil (Gil was in strips for several years, 1 of the characters that just disappeared!)
My grandpa gave me the same advice when he told me that when it comes time to buy a dog, I should take the one that picks me. Some of the best advice he ever gave me.
Poor fish. The bowl is too small for the size of the fish, the narrow opening at the top is too small to provide adequate oxygenation of the water, there’s no air pump or filter, and it is placed in front of the window where the sunlight will heat the water to intolerable temperatures.
Had that happen in a sea aquarium with an orca. I was looking through a below surface view window and the orca swam over and looked me in the eye and just stared. It was an amazing experience and I felt, if I had the power to do it, that I would release him/her back into the sea so it could join the other orcas that are messing with boats.
My parents got me a goldfish when I was 4 but it died on the way home. They then bought me a helium balloon to cheer me up but it flew out of the car. Scared of cars ever since.
We had a goldfish once when I was still pre-school-aged. It lived in a rectangular tank kept on top of the refrigerator, but not very long, One day, upon rising, we found it dead fish dead, as they say over at Dick Tracy.
I don’t think Monty is going to be a good “fish foster-father.”
I had looked at 25 cats before I went into a room with Raz and one other kitten. Raz bounced over to me and said, “Hi, I’m going to be your new cat.”
I’m not one to be easily swayed by talking kittens, so after playing with her five minutes, I left to go look at another ten kittens. Fifteen minutes later, I realized she was right. We’ve been together ever since. :)

That’s how we chose our cat. We’ve had him 14 years now. It’s a good method.

You’ll need a backup plan for when that fish dies in two weeks.

So you condemned him to a life in a very small space with spherical walls that distort what he see, and without any company.
Connections are amazing!

because of the index of refraction, all the fish would see is its reflection.
