At least we feed the bugs and bacteria. I’m good with that.

“But if there’s no afterlife, life has no meaning.”

The fact that people keep saying this is actually more evidence that the idea of an afterlife was invented.

Usually the train’s light is still on when it hits you.

Been dead before, was at hospital and they overdosed me on high blood pressure meds thru my iv, ( they thought i was having a heart attack, I wasn’t) So as I was signing my release papers to go home I dropped dead for five minutes, no lights, no nothing, I flatlined for five minutes, I came back to life just before the paddles were going to shock me, I almost punched the guy out and told him to stay away from me with those things. I should have sued.

Is there really an afterlife or do we just decay? Great, now I’m existentially terrified.

“Not enough evidence, God! Not enough evidence.” I think the GQP is negative evidence.

No fear, and no beer? That makes no sense because the one thing I fear about the afterlife is that there may be no beer.

Verne’s final statement is a great summary of the last 5,000 years of religious philosophy.

“In Heaven there is no fear. That’s why we wallow in it here.” Universal truth from the mouth of a tortoise. (Makes me think of Terry Pratchett’s book “Small Gods.” Good reading.)

An “afterlife” is basically human vanity… “how dare something as great as me should end!”

What sort of reassurance is he looking for? If he believes in an afterlife, then he knows what to expect. Whether that actually happens or not is anyone’s guess, but a believer at least goes into it expecting angels and god and such. If he isn’t a believer, then he expects nothing, which is the most likely.

Work and pray. Live on hay. There’ll be pie in the sky when you die.
