Edison said that “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” This from a man who was one percent inventor and ninety-nine percent fraud.
Edison pointed out that a spark of inspiration is of no use without a truckload of doing the work to turn it into something useful. Though he stated it (as we now hear of it anyway) in a more memorable way. Edison WAS something of a plodder, but he did it well and produced actual, useful things. Tesla WAS flamboyant and creative, coming up with many ideas, not least of which was alternating current. But the plodding part of it wasn’t his forte and he died broke.
Synthetic fabrics stink much more, and quicker, after perspiration than do natural fabrics (unless you had all sorts of nasties like silver) so that comment doesn’t really work?
Synthetic fabrics encourage sweat. Natural fabrics wick it away from the body & hold their shape while they’re doing it. Natural fabrics also let air circulate much more readily, lessening the sweat deal.
I agree with that someone who observed – The early synthetic fabrics were like wearing wax paper. I think it’s why people who used pocket protectors had to have so many implements with strong clips… to hold them in place.
From all these comments about Edison, mostly negative, I guess I better learn something about him so I don’t feel so ignorant. Any suggestions for a well written bio??
Louis the 14th, The “Sun King” of France from 1643 until his death in 1715, was bathed right after birth, the day of his wedding, and right after he died. That was it. He probably didn’t worry much about how his moisture got wicked away.

Synthetic fabrics hold B.O. far more than others, IMO.

A great idea is meaningless if you don’t do anything with it.

Edison’s original laboratory is now part of Greenfield Village, next to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.
