I take COVID very seriously – I even still wear a mask everywhere I go, but this seems a bit excessive to be worrying about a new variant. Am I wrong? That said, I don’t know how scary it truly is for immunocompromised people

I don’t even want to know which variant as long it’s something like omega variant. Be gone, coronavirus!

Continue to get those booster shots when they come out with them.

It’s what viruses, especially this family, do. Constant mutation is a constant.

Possibly the newly recreated Spanish influenza virus. The researchers who re-created it are now complaining that it’s not deadly enough. (This sounds like a joke, but it’s actually true.)
