And don’t forget to stuff the bag with colored tissue paper to plump up the bag, so it looks full, even though you only put in a trinket!!

Adam has the biggest collection of “non-skills” I have ever seen.

    Or is it excuses?

Ditto what everyone said about gift bags. They were invented for those of us who can’t wrap well and now everyone uses them.

    I can wrap a present

That is to say that when I am done it is wrapped, and an observer would be able to detect it is meant to be a present

Wrap it! Use half a roll of tape and then place it in a gift bag or another box and wrap it again. Opening gifts is the experience and fun of Christmas morning. Your curiosity runs wild as to what it is. Helps if box doesn’t show the contents too but you can’t always have that.

I have a relative who places the gifts he gives in brown paper bags and encircles them with masking tape. No joke.

Back in my younger days, I worked for a major department store. One day their gift wrap department was slammed so they told me to help. I told them it was a bad idea. They ordered me to do it. After my first attempt they were embarrassed to charge the lady so they kicked me out of gift wrap, never to return.

Ah yes, in addition to being a failure as a writer and parental figure, of course Adam has all the dexterity of a stump of wood.

Sometimes, in my family, we would use newspaper to wrap. Comics for us kids, news for Dad, social pages for Mom. Not necessarily at Christmas, but birthdays/Mother’s Day/Father’s Day, etc.

I can figure out how to wrap just about any gift – my dad taught me (also taught me how to wrap packages for shipping and so many, many other life skills).

But – we are down to only 3 gifts to buy – one for each of husband’s nieces (teenagers) and one for husband. (For some years/decades – I don’t get anything for Christmas, birthday etc. by my request as I don’t need or want anything.) My niblings are in their late 20s/early 30s so we don’t buy for them any longer.)

I put his gifts in gift bags as why waste the paper when he knows he what he is getting as he bought it.
