The present day movie industry SUCKS, where have you gone Bette Davie, Clark Gable, Myra Loy, James Cagney, Katheryn Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Joan Crawford, Humphrey Bogart and hundreds of other great stars? These people that think they are stars now a days are only fooling themselves.
Actually it was Smith who was out of line. (Seriously, first that #OscarsSoWhite stunt, namely https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/jan/21/will-smith-oscars-diversity-boycott, and now this?) His actions make me think back to this article. (fb.com/rightmessageimages/photos/331728183845152) I have known of parents in the hood talking to and treating their children that way regularly. I am not a fan of Rock, either, (Note the parenting, white-villainizing and racism-is-everywhere in Everybody Hates Chris being treated as acceptable.) but what Smith did was not okay. At all.
Another great explanation about what makes Smith’s actions out of line: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/8c2d7775-79ff-4d95-9f6f-8e3fc9b30777/episodes/cb7d3893-4621-43c9-ad60-a1345788144b/dennis-prager-podcasts-the-dennis-prager-show-20220328-%E2%80%93-1-the-slap
For all the folks taking the stance that WS was in the right here (not saying that CR was) going by that metric that it’s alright to assault someone over a bad joke, then Ted Cruz could/should have shot DJ Trump for outright insulting his wife and implying that his dad killed JFK.
Jada has been open about her struggles with her hair issues. And honestly she is gorgeous with or without hair. It was a joke, was it in bad taste? Likely, but I’ll bet a lot of people didn’t know about her issues with her alopecia until the other night (I didn’t). And frankly if Will Smith hadn’t made such a big deal of it, a lot of people still wouldn’t know about it. I would have thought he was complementing her on her new look (and again, she rocks it!).
The thing about the Oscars slap incident is that medical debt is still the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the US, and none of our so-called “leaders” really gives a shit about changing that.

It’s too bad that all the good that Lalo points out having been a part of the Oscars, what we’ll remember is the slap.

At least the Oscars made a contribution to the public lexicon, where a slap will now be called “going all Will Smith on you”

Yes. Let’s stop talking about this and talk about all that great stuff.

This is as out of line as Chris Rock’s remarks about Will Smith’s wife.

I assume the person doing the slapping is the Former Guy (or one of his followers)

I think you got this one wrong, Lalo.

I’ve seen a lot of Smith’s bad acting, but he and Rock should have thought this bit of kabuki theater out a little more.

Okay, isn’t it time to let this go? Move on?
