There are those whose lives will never get back to normal because they have immunity depressant conditions. As for the rest, life will return to normal if it hasn’t already.

What is the message being hinted at here? Is he saying that the lockdowns cause more harm than they purport to prevent?

With a bit of practice, you can turn every sunny day into a sunburn, every sunset into a chance to stumble when you turn away, every bit of good news into wondering why it didn’t happen sooner. To yourself!

I think the worst emotional side effect is anger. Many people don’t like themselves or their family.

I think we’ve all been depressed for too long. The economy is about to tank and Putin is opting for a new world order. I say “Let’s go to war!” There’s nothing like a good old world war to boost the economy, instill national pride, and decimate the younger generation which in turn allays the population growth. I should add a forward slash S to my comment, but I don’t care any more.

the odd thing is, besides wearing a mask and a toilet paper shortage, my life didn’t change at all.

I guess I was already practicing social distancing and good at isolating.

Unfortunately, we have a whole bunch of people who refuse to help get us through this, because they’re “tough guys” who can’t handle the slightest discomfort. And they’re stupid enough to get their medical information from Sean Hannity.

Meh, not being a social butterfly, I never felt isolated and lonely. Although it was a little annoying for a while not being able to sit in a restaurant.

What was really telling about this whole mess is that when the next pandemic comes (and yes, there will likely be more events in the future) and we’re faced with a much more dangerous virus (read “The Next Pandemic” and similar works to see what virologists think about this), I have my doubts that we’ll be able to appropriately address it, especially given how people turned COVID into a political matter rather than a public health one.

Arguing about covid is not going to help. It would be better if we would find out how this started in China and what was the source of the outbreak. Anything else is a distraction from finding the truth. Lab leak or something else?

@ve5ra As long as you’re talking about the “fake pandemic”, be sure to throw in the fake Moon landing, fake World War 2, fake Great Depression, fake racism, fake sexism, fake polio, fake smallpox, fake Black Plague, fake Inquisition, fake discovery of the New World, and fake idea that your mom and dad really loved you to have put up with you for so long.

The isolation should have stopped long ago. Once people got vaxxed and boosted, and once people got access to good masks, there was no reason for isolation. I haven’t felt isolated for a long time.

Being an introvert, the pandemic isolation did not bother me in the least! However, some feel if they don’t go out everyday, they get depressed. In my youth, I was out everyday, and now I can finally do what suits me best.

And yet we still have people that have been so terrified by the Government and the media, that they will have a long road to recovery. All for a virus with <1.2% fatality rate the mostly killed people that were at deaths door already.

In fact this is accurate. The most recent reports show that Lock down did not decrease deaths at all and all but one kind of mask was completely worthless. however with suicide in teens up over 200% and over 300% across all ages, drug overdoses up 1,000% (not a typo), I think we can safely say the mandates were more destructive than Covid itsself.

My depression is caused by the revelation of how many self-absorbed, anti-reality MAGA hatted people share my country – including relatives with whom I’ve survived SO much sh*t as allies, but this ripped us apart.

Which makes any isolation self-imposed. It’s too people-y out there. But not lonely, when I think of the stress of trying to interact with known MAGAs or strangers when I don’t know if they’re going to shoot me for breaking some rule known only to them….

Jeebus, the comments on this one. “Hurr duur if masks and lockdowns worked, why do we still have covid?” I mean, it only worked in literally every country that did it the right way, but most of them have a history of caring about society as a whole, unlike us.

mrwiskers less than a minute agoI wish there was a tool I could use so I would be able to tell if someone is trolling or is honestly ignorant. And let’s put “I did my own research” to bed. When someone says this, I am glad they are reading about the virus. But did the research also include the author’s background? Are they qualified to offer medical or scientific information? With so many grifters on the loose theses days, set your high bar higher. There are folks who have Dr. in front of their name but lack the qualifications. Check ‘em out first before you quote them. Your life, and loved ones, may depend on it. I’ll step down from my soapbox, now. Thanks for your time.
