Elly can probably hear that it’s pouring outside and she can see the dog walking by her soaking wet and somehow she concludes “I see Mike bathed the dog.” Michael didn’t even put dog shampoo on Farley before taking him out. He is going to smell like a dirty, wet dog. Elly’s nose does not seem to be working.

She should be able to smell the difference between bathed dog and rain soaked dog.

That method would leave my dog still smelling and with muddy feet.

She MUST know it’s raining outside with that downpour. If I knew it was raining and then saw the dog all wet, my first thought would be “How did you get outside and who let you back in?”.

Who gives their dog a bath on a rainy day anyway? They take forever to dry unless you blow-dry them. I’m thinking big Farley dogs and not little Iggy chihuahuas.

We had a sheepdog in the 70’s. She STUNK when wet.

Now for the “wet dog” smell to permeate the house. :D

LOL these Sunday strips are always such buzz-kills when you’re in the middle of a serious story arc! The biggest story in FBOFW history with a lot more to go… and here’s a comedy strip about Michael slacking on his chores!

Funnily enough I think this would take LONGER than actually giving the dog a bath, but is certainly easier. Only trick is there’s no shampoo involved… and a sheepdog like Farley would probably REEK after about an hour indoors after getting that wet.

I love Sunday strips; they’re a refreshing change from the drama of the previous week.

Kinda like the Gravedigger Scene in “Hamlet”.

Beware those April showers. It appears to me that that creek in the first panel has risen a foot and is almost overflowing its bank in the fourth panel! Also the water is almost up to their purple house’s basement. Did they actually build their house in the creek?

Michael proves his incompetent thought process. No boots. No umbrella and the jacket has a hood, but why use it… He will be sick tomorrow.

See, sometimes nature works in our favor even if we’re lazy. I wash my truck the same way.

My dog, a large standard poodle, would LOVE to walk in the rain. He’d jump and roll and spin, like he was trying to catch every raindrop. And he was a lot of dog to dry!

Who cares that Michael appears to be going nowhere in life? So long as he is “tolerant” of Lawrence’s choice of lifestyle.

The introduction to the flatbread section of Notes From a Scandinavian Kitchen tells of two brothers in their early 20s homesteading in Montana ca 1907 (their mother and sisters baked them a barrelful before they left Minnesota). The first and last time younger brother Gustav did the laundry he threw the clothes in a burlap sack and dragged them through a swamp behind his horse.

Took a shower in a monsoon downpour, stripped with a bar of soap. With the following heat and humidity the cleanliness didn’t last, but it was at least temporarily refreshing.
