Okey,Mercury…a car, very similar to a Ford. It is not a planet, but it does revolve around a son. A son, who seems likely from another planet

Well, I can remember a 3-cast play which I had to do for German class in 11th grade. The day we had to present, the one who had the dialog was MIA–so I (and the remaining cast member) wrote up a skit in about 10 minutes, not even completing it before we got called up. The teacher docked us down to 7/10, which was probably fine for ad-libbing.

On the MIA cast-member; when she showed up again the next day, the teacher asked for presentation–whereupon we told him (the teacher) that we’d already presented and gotten graded, so she got zip!

Ahh this brings back memories. Mine was on the history of space flight, I had an awsome title and a few hastely dredged up facts from my own memory… I got an ‘F’ lol

I’ll bet everyone has a story like this …

Mine was a class lecture on how DNA is replicated in the nucleus of the human cell. Problem was, the class was held on “Irish Heritage Day” and me and a bunch of friends thought it would be a good idea to drink before school. So … last minute lecture delivered on liquid confidence. That went reeeaaalll well …

He just didn’t want Susie to boss him around. Calvin has a great imagination, watch him make up something great and get an A.

I’m more like Susie in this respect. In school, I would work for days on a project, have everything done correctly acording to the guidelines, go above and beyond the requirements and just pull a “C”. My friend would throw something together at the last minute and would get a “A”. It pays to be teacher’s pet.

I love the facial expressions in the third panel. Susie is thinking “what a #$%^&* JERK!” while Calvin is thinking “what a #$%^&* JERK!”.

haha - in college I brought the wrong disc for a presentation. It had my working title ‘sh1t for class’ and a few diagrams. I spoke through all the diagrams and answered all of the questions all off of the top of my head. the prof deducted points because of the presentation layout / title and lack of information. but otherwise it was better then most others.. ha!!

On the weekend before the deadline, I frantically threw together my science project for the HS competition exhibits we had been given a couple of months to do. I really winged it at Monday morning’s assembly and was somehow voted to take my science project onto the next competitive levels. It eventually won a 2nd place ribbon at the State Science Fair.

Like Calvin, I was always preoccupied with more important things then schoolwork. And, like Calvin, I sometimes lucked out.

Susie already finished hers on time. Calvin didn’t finish his reserch on Mercury, the fastest planet around the Sun. Tch! I love the three panel the way Calvin gives dirty looks behind Susie’s back. ppphhhfffttt! LOLs! Wish Calvin good luck on his research about Mercury.

Hey, a good title is half the work done (or maybe not if it is 5 mins before the presentation).

sigh…see you in the principle’s office.

My project involved a threesome - me and two Susies. I did all the research, made the presentation, and answered the questions after. The teacher gave an overall mark for each group. One of the Susies was the team leader. She was allowed to allocate the marks. She gave herself a ten - because she was the leader, and HER BEST FRIEND (who could not answer a single question in her areas) a nine. I got the remaining marks. I stopped taking an interest in group projects almost immediately.

Years ago I was called upon in college to give a prepared talk on a subject of my choosing. I thought that it was due the following week, so I gave a 10 minute lecture on how to give a talk when you are not prepared.

    I passed.

    Leonardeuler says:

“What has the planet Mercury to do with the metal mercury ? Is there any relationship ?”

AFAIK, it’s because the metal is liquid, and so moves faster than any other metal, just like the planet, or the god (Mercury being messenger of the gods).

hey, this has nothing to do with this comic, but I was wondering if anybody could tell me about what date the comic was published where Calvin asks about the first guy to drink milk? I have the complete collection and I want to find that one to copy and put on my wall!

Unlike Calvin, I am usually prepared for my projects and reports. Calvin you idiot why do you hate school so much, besides the fact you have to put up with Moe, Susie, Ms. Wormwood, and the principal? If you studied and not pretended to be Spaceman Spiff you wouldn’t be in this trouble!!!

It’s ridiculous how much homework Calvin gets.

He is 6 and in the first grade just learning to read and spell.

Not writing a report and not getting the kind of math homework he gets.

They would not be going to the library doing research and not doing it alone.
