Don’t worry, General Milley. That’s a dud if ever I saw one.

I think he was following his oath to protect the nation, albeit, quite possibly by acting outside the strict bounds of his job description.

As a retired officer, my Oath was to the Constitution, not to a person. It required me to obey the LAFUL orders of the POTUS and those officers over me, but remember that word lawful. Trump clearly acted outside the law in many things.

Wasn’t Vice President Pence told by twice impeached President Trump to fall on a hand grenade to win (steal) HIS re-election ?

Remember, NO MEMBER of the U.S. Military is required to follow an unlawful order!

Milley worked in concert with others to see that a single deranged individual did not take this country into war. Thank you for your service General.

‘It’s all in writing’: Nicole Wallace breaks down damning new Trump campaign memo

“Breaking news this afternoon from The New York Times that could represent a serious threat to Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign and potentially even to the former president himself. Their claims about election fraud were a lie — and Trump’s campaign reportedly knew it,” Wallace reported.

Trump’s campaign reportedly knew that Dominion did not use Smartmatic, and also knew that Dominion did not have ties to Venezuela or George Soros.

“That’s about as clear and unequivocal as it can get,” Wallace said. “That members of the Trump campaign knew there was no evidence to support the conspiracy theories Trump and his allies were very publicly spouting — and it’s all in writing.”

That’s the best depiction of his action that I’ve seen. I just wonder how unhinged T**** must have been for general Milley to believe that was necessary.

While some Republicans have suggested that Milley’s statements to his Chinese counterpart constituted a treasonous offer to reveal classified military plans to a foreign adversary, Butler has pushed back, noting that Milley’s calls to foreign leaders were coordinated with other national security agencies and were part of his “duties and responsibilities conveying reassurance in order to maintain strategic stability.” In English: They were smart military diplomacy, intended to discourage a jittery China from launching a preemptive strike during a U.S. political crisis. Milley was just doing his job.

Earlier today, The New York Times reported that almost two weeks after Election Day, Trump campaign officials received an internal memo that debunked the most outlandish claims that were being thrown around about election fraud. The memo was released on Nov. 14. That is, 11 days after the election, six days after most media outlets declared Biden president-elect—and more importantly, six days before the now-infamous press conference at which Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell repeated some of those very claims.

Eric lewis diaried it here earlier. But I felt it was necessary to point out just how seismic this is. We now have hard proof of what we have known for some time—Trump was wailing “Stop the steal!” even though he damned well KNEW that he had lost, and the insurrection was underway long before a mob of pro-Trump thugs stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.

There was already ample evidence that Trump was well aware that Biden had beaten him. In late January, the Old Grey Lady reported (diaried here) that Trump’s legal team knew as early as November 12—incidentally, two days before the release of that memo—that there was no hope of winning enough legal challenges to overturn Biden’s lead. In response, the Trump campaign began what the Old Grey Lady delicately called “an extralegal campaign” to overturn those results. In light of what we now know, that’s a polite term for “insurrection.” After all, ethically the lawyers had to tell Trump this information. That means an argument can be made that every move Trump made to overturn Biden’s lead after that date was in furtherance of that insurrection.

Anyone remember when Ronald Reagan announced he had fired nuclear missiles at the Soviet Union on a hot mic? Guess who fixed that problem . . .
