Now and then I mix in a true story, as my life has often been filled with jokes, intentional or otherwise…

I got out of school around the time horn bands were making a big incursion. Being a trombonist, I got work, but they always put the horn players out front – often in front of the speakers. The sound was tremendous; I always wore earplugs.

One night I forgot to bring ear protection, and, not wanting to go deaf, I thought what I could do. Seeing a guy smoking filter-tip cigarettes (for your whippersnappers’ information, public and even indoor smoking was common in the 70s) I asked him if I could bum a couple of cigarettes from him. “Two?” he asked. “You must really be having a nicotine fit.”

    “Actually, I don’t smoke,” I replied.

“Then what are you planning on doing with them?”

“I’m going to stick them in my ears.”

Rolling his eyes, he handed me two filter-tip cigarettes. “Ask a silly question,” he said…

One time I was 3,001 years old and had 791 deep serrated injuries.

One time I weighed 2,001 pounds.

    We get Bace Gruesing.

May the Lord be with you.

The bison reminds me of the highway between Farmington and Gallup, NM. The only traffic jams on the former US 666 were sheep herds.

I’m guessing that bison wasn’t taking a catnap.

Did they have to resurrect Buffalo Bill to move him??

Because, apparently, 780 deep, serrated injuries wouldn’t have been enough.

This cornflake looks like the surface of my neighbor’s rusted 1949 Studebaker trunk lid.

Take care, may aspiring trivia gatherer Myrtle “My, look At That Dirt Clod Over There” Wriplord be with you, and gesundheit.

I worked my way through college playing drums in a band. The big Leslie speaker was right next to me for four + two years (graduate school). I am now wearing hearing aids. I should have worn ear plugs then.

Wonder if Mr. Shark Bite has any modern relatives. The coroner could inform them of his passing

Humans often forget that the animals once enjoyed free range roaming long before highways and railroads dissected and decimated their habitat.
