Y’know, when Trump went to his first G7 and he just pushed his way through the assembled world leaders like an unmannered toddler it was excruciatingly embarrassing. I finally realized: this man’s manners cease at about the 10-year-old level (y’know…chew with your mouth closed; use a tissue; etc.) He simply did not know HOW to present himself to those people. And in 70-odd years has never bothered to learn.

That ship has sailed. Ted Cruz just sent out a pic of him and the former guy tête-à-tête at Mar-a-Lago. They were apparently strategizing how to flip the Senate in ‘22. With Cruz, I can never figure out if he’s the dog or the flea, especially when in proximity to you know who.

As far as I can tell, the GOP is acting somewhat like this, but the much larger (and in charge) GQP is bringing sacrifices to him and singing “hosannas” in an attempt to guide him toward what they perceive as mutual goals.

I think that the better course for the nation is to poke him with metaphorical sticks and get him ranting and raving even louder. For two reasons: I expect that would drive off the least blinded (5?)% of his current supporters, AND there’s a chance he’d say something actionable.
