I know Edison stole all “his” ideas, but I didn’t know the light bulb went back quite that far! (It even predates electricity apparently…)

Maybe he’s Uncle Fester… after all, he could make a bulb light up! Then again, perhaps the “wheel” is actually a tightly bound coil of copper that he is going to slide some magnetised rock through and he was trying to figure out what would use the resulting electricity? Or I’m just over thinking things!!

Darkfarce – I almost cry thinking that you believe half of the things you type.Timing is everything, but the most successful inventors are able to show that NOW is the time!

He’s so far ahead of his time, his idea came out as a light bulb instead of a wooden torch.

lots of people have the same crazy idea, it’s the few with the bad sense to act on it that change the world.

Fortunately, nearly all of the crazy ideas in the mind of a single person stay there, and never see the light of day. Many things that can be done should never be done…the problem is that we can’t always tell beforehand which things they are.

“Creative” is a better word for it than “crazy”. A creative mind looks at things as they are, thinks “what if…?”, and comes up with a way to try it. If it works, it’s science (or art), and the technology follows. If not, it was just another nutty idea. The proof is in the trying.

When the world finally buries the incandescent light bulb for good, will cartoonists switch to a twisty CFL as shorthand for a flash of insight?CFL’s don’t strike me as a very bright idea; perhaps an LED instead…

I think the humor in the strip is that cave person #2 was reacting to the light bulb (“weirdo”), not the bagel-shaped rock. In panel 3, you see that he is looking up at it.:-D

I used to think that Freud was a bit off his rocker seeing sex in everything. Some people see politics in everything.

Years driving and stopping ever 500 feet, I learned to bless the sound of a big wheel. I would slam on my breaks, put it in park, and look till I found the sound of that saving siren. Can I even guess the number of tots it saved.
