Dang, try finding a Brazil nut. (I know that they’re not everyone’s favorite, but I like them.)

I like them all. Even the walnuts and macadamia nuts. Some people don’t like those.

I don’t mind cashews and pecans; Brazil nuts and walnuts as well as peanuts are a little hard to please.

For me, Hazelnuts and Brazil Nuts are the best.

… and Almonds and Cashews are a “No thank you.” I would sort them out – leave them for someone else.

I’ve bought the less than 50% peanuts. When you open the can it’s still mostly peanuts. The less than 50% part is by weight. You have to buy the Deluxe mixed nuts and pay more than twice as much if you don’t want peanuts.

What about the one Brazil nut, two almonds and six Filberts?

Always though the label should be Peanuts Et Al.

I buy the Costco “Extra Fancy Mixed Nuts” Not a peanut in the bunch. Cashews, Brazil nuts, peeled almonds, raw almonds, pecan halves and macadamia nuts.

A large grocery company based near me sells very good quality nuts in wide varieties and in many different blends. Their packaging let’s you see what’s in the bag or container. A lot of the nuts are available in no-salt, lightly salted, and salted versions. Best of all they’re not much higher in cost than the lame old “I wonder what I’m getting this time” brands. They even have a line of quite a few very different trail mix type blends.

Same trick is often pulled with sliced bacon-very lean slice on top and the rest is mostly fat. I like to buy fresh lean Pork Belly, smoke, and thick slice it myself. No Salt, Nitrates, or other chemicals.

In Canada, Bulk Barn is the place to create any nut mix you want, choosing raw, roasted, dry roasted, salted or unsalted.

I always buy the Deluxe Mixed Nuts, usually the house brand wherever I’m shopping. It’s not that I don’t like peanuts, it’s just that there are way too many.

Pecans rule!! Especially on the pies my Mom baked. Her pecan pies were so good I even asked her to bake birthday pies instead of cakes.

For some reason I recall the no peanuts blend being labelled Royal Mix. It contained cashews, almonds, pecans, hazelnuts and brazil nuts. Grandma always had a large can of those, along with the containers of Spanish peanuts and regular peanuts, next to a bowl of assorted Hershey’s miniatures on top of her dining room buffet.
