It does seem like that. My dog can eat her dinner in less than a minute.

We have to time and space out dinner unfortunately. Our Rugby can longer large amounts of food eaten quickly. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, all is good. Ha ( can I still say Lincoln)?e

We use a “slow feeder” bowl for Newton because he eats so quickly (all the Labs in our extended family do) and big dogs can be prone to bloat. I guess it helps—it takes about three minutes instead of one for him to scarf down his dinner!

None of my dogs ever “inhaled” their food. They seemed to enjoy a more leisurely breakfast and dinner. However, I have babysat my daughter’s dog and that one does seem to inhale her food. It takes less than one minute for it to be all gone.

If your dog eats too fast try one of those bowls designed to make them slow down and help with digestion.

Mr. Basset knows Labs! Ours can literally suck down an entire bowl (3 cups) of dry dog food without chewing a single kibble. He only does this when he is really hungry and the results are not pretty…the unchewed food doesn’t stay down.

My Lab would give Rover a run for money.
