I wonder what passed for “tons of RAM” when this was first published

Jason, do you even know who Cindy Crawford is? Also, have you been looking into Peter’s magazines or something that has her on the cover or centerfolds?

Imagine that, Cindy was once hot. It’s not too hard to find pictures of Cindy Crawford as she is now, but don’t unless you want to feel old.

If you want to persuade her, perhaps compare it to Hugh Jackman.

I never thought of Andy as someone who would value “cute.”

It’s hard to believe people once survived with one computer per house hold.

This was the ad at the top of the page. Talk about customizing advertising…“Lenovo Thinkpad T490, 14.0 Inch, I5-8265U 1.60Ghz, Up To 3.90Ghz With Turbo Boost, 4…”

Many, MANY years ago, I ordered a system from Tiger Direct with the “new” Cyrix 686 Processor, with a Matrox Millennium 4 MEG video card (Yeah, you read that right. When it arrived, I opened the case and there was a generic video card where my $400 Matrox was supposed to be. I called and they were like, “Eh, we don’t offer returns.” I argued with them several times a day for a week, until I finally disputed the over $2000 charge on my credit card. A while later, I noticed $2400 extra credit available on my card. I called Tiger and said I want to return this piece of crap. They said “We don’t offer returns…” I told them I got my money back. He said "Merry Christmas. So I did a little research and found that the Cryix Chipset on the motherboard didn’t support the Matrox card. I ordered parts to build another machine, and between that new one, the Cyrix box, and my old 486/33 overclocked to 66 MHz, I built my first network.

Started with an Apple II + with 48K. Cost me $100 to add another 16K. Also added lower case chip, and 80 column display. You could do a lot with that system back then.

When I started my job as a “Computer Specialist”, most of the IBM PCs had 64>b>K of RAM, but there was one PC that had only 16K. The only think she ran on it was a Word Processing package called “EasyWriter”. She never did upgrade that one…

I actually had a VooDoo Graphics card. The game that absolutely blew me away was called “Forsaken”…

I see this is another one of those Foxtrot strips where the girls/women make choices of important things based on cute colors (like Paige’s university choice). To my knowledge Jason’s mom is a working woman dependent on that computer. I actually think she’d take Jason’s advice into consideration.

nice and ambiguous terms, this actually aged pretty well. Of course, this does fit into my “she’s an actual idiot” theory that I’ve said about previous strips

Come on, Andy, you’re the parent that supposed to be able to look beneath the surface!

Unless, of course, she’s just deliberately jerking Jason’s chain. There are such things as “Mom-jokes”, too, after all.
