I want people to put the “e” to the end of Human.

    Think on it a bit.

Now… remember… “e” is the fifth letter of the alphabet. If we all went out and did things… without gain… helped out where we could… donate spare clothes to shelters… so many things! Just five things! Maybe ask those we help to do the same – help five… and they help five… and five more… We might gain back what we have lost. “E”… and maybe a bit of Empathy.

Around here, they’ve put up signs on all the benches saying “Because of the pandemic, these benches may not be used”. I like Coverly’s idea of stretching them better.

Some may call it empathy. I call it patriotism. Caring about your fellow citizen as well as yourself. Taking an attitude of “I am going to stand up for the country.” E pluribus unum; From the many, one. The behavior and ethical standards we are seeing from the far right and their Republican Party are appalling. Their “principles” are antithetical to the motto. Principles are what you hold yourself to. Anything else is posturing, or pandering, or dissembling. It is the height of hypocrisy and arrogance to do it so blatantly, and “justify” it by saying “you would do the same thing if you were me.” No, that is the lie you tell yourself so you can sleep nights. It amounts to a claim of but everybody does it. At that point, you aren’t even making a pretense of denying it. So if everybody was killing each other over every disagreement, you would advocate joining in? And everybody does NOT do it. There are honest people working in and for governments at all levels. Not all of them, to be sure, but usually enough to keep things on an even keel. And honestly, no different than in the general population. But one political party is on a race to the bottom. If we do not hold our political leadership to some reasonable standard, then sub-standard is what we are going to receive in return.

There is not a single member of the Republican Party who is not complicit in the attempted dismantling of democracy we see before us. It is a forty year-sustained, systemic assault on the poor and the middle class to appease the greed of the few.

Have not seen much in the way of empathy coming out of the Oval office, just a continuous Lust for Power !

Amazing how we can take a great message on showing empathy and turn it political. People are so obsessed (or fed-up) they can’t turn it off for a second! It’s kind of fascinating in a morbid sort of way.

I like this guy. I’ve had the honor of meeting him. He starts off slow in this video, but at the 1:30 mark or thereabouts, he shows his true colors.

We taught EMTs to avoid empathy. It can cripple the ability to respond properly to injuries. Sympathy is OK, empathy, in that circumstance, is not.

Recently, read a good op ed on how we, as Americans, need to stop focusing so much on “mah freedomz”, and perhaps work more on “our obligations”.
