Annnd, news from Georgia’s facebook “A sneak peek from the painting board this morning. A little late night chat between Old Mag and Baba Mouse. Coming soon to a September near you!” The cartoon shows Old Mag and Baba Mouse being catty to each other. I can’t wait for September!!!
Pucky, pucky, pucky! “Rags to Riches” is Tony Bennett from 1953, and My Way is Sinatra in 1969. We need to introduce you to the concept of “anachronism”! :-)
Puck has the ‘50’s mixed up with the ‘40’s and maybe a little “One for My Baby and One More For the Road” would definitely be more ‘noire. I think that was around 1950…. a movie called “ Roadhouse if memory serves me.

Puck reminds me of Rick from "Magnum PI’ (both versions but mostly the classic with Tom Selleck) with a side of ‘5-0 on top of it. And that leads me to my biggest complaint about Hawaii 5-0 and how it finished: what happened to the wonderful "Mr Pickles’, a beautiful Angora, we were left in the dark about that??
Sooo Off Topic for GEORGIA! A kitty crystal medication for real-life Lupin:This is in response to the 8/12/20 FaceBook post of Lupin walking straight into his carrier. I’m not on FB so cannot reply there.Have you tried DL-Methionine for bladder crystals? It is an OTC urine acidifier. I cleared it through my vet and have been using it on my problem child for around a year. Neutral flavored so I can crush it to powder and mix with wet food. There have been no further issues! Another baby started showing signs of bladder infection (stuff was turning pink) so gave some to her as a stop-gap until her appointment. She never ended up having to see the vet. Just something to ponder if you haven’t already.
Let’s not sweat the details about song decades; just enjoy the overwhelming cuteness of Puck’s costume and song styling. Like the Pastis strip today, we need audio!
I dunno, Goldie…seems like the noir stereotype is that the detective always visits that one nightclub for insider information where they have the saucy singer upstage singing in the background…
I wanted to reassure everyone that I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. I’ve been helping a neighbour by watching her two boys while regular caregiver is on vacation. I’ll be doing it next week too, so don’t worry if you don’t hear from me.
But the singer would have known about the vase before he got out of prison. The trail would have led him from one seedy night club to another. The vase would be his ticket out of this world of cigarette smoke and bad lighting…
A plethora, possibly related to a thesaurus. Perhaps I should ask Robing what to feed it.
Today is:
I Love Cowboys and Cowgirls Day* —Yippee tai yai O, get a long little doggies. Me, I’m a cat herder. I recommend the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_MaJDK3VNE. I downloaded and saved this one when it first aired. Priceless.
International Homeless Animals’ Day —I think we all know what this is about—and we know what to do about it!
National Check the Chip Day —Another way to save beloved animals. If your pets aren’t chipped, they should be, as we nearly learned to our deep sorrow when 8-ball when a-Viking. Chips save lives, and pet lives matter! (Robin, have you gotten your thesaurus chipped? =^D)
National Failures Day —As long as you keep trying, and learn from failure, you are not a total failure. It’s not about the goal—the ultimate goal is death, that’s the only deadline—it’s about how and when you get there. There is an old saying: “An unexamined life is not worth living.” That is very true. So take a good hard look at a failure, and learn from it. Unfortunately, some spend too much time focusing on self examination, but never see the good side. Others only examine their lives for self promotion—politicians and similar … things.
National Leathercraft Day —Before carpal tunnel and arthritis, I used to make all my leather gear: moccasins (hard and soft sole), buscaderos, possibles bags, gun sheathes, sword and knife scabbards, you name it. Never learned to work with fabric—"Hey, this stuff changes shape when you pull on it!"
World Honey Bee Day —Please be nice to the bees, they need all the help they can get, and if they don’t get it, we are all in deep trouble.
Finally, to the delight of Font Lady, today is World Calligraphy Day— (It is also Whorled Calligraphy Day, but not all calligraphy is whorled. As far as I know, it is never whirled, but you have to ask her about that.
Puck should try more big band leader. He might make a better Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Baise, Tommy Dorsey, Les Brown, Cab Calloway.
Pucky makes such a wonderful crooner. I could be off base but wasn’t the 40s still part of the big band era. Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie. Though if memory of history serves I think Glenn Miller was tragically lost during WWII.

From the Andrews Sisters: Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy
He was a famous singer cat from out Rhode Island way
He had a singing style that you could hear every day
He was the top cat at his craft
But then a mystery came up and he was needed to solve
He’s helping Goldie, now just like the Robber Mouse
He’s the Boogie Woogie Big Band Cat of the Big Red House!
…….
A-toot, a-toot, a-toot-diddelyada-toot
He sings eight-to-the-bar, in boogie rhythm
When he starts to sing the whole darn house sings with him!
He makes the whole house sing, with him and Buzzy Mouse,
He’s the Boogie Woogie Big Band Cat of the Big Red House!
…….
He can sing the whole darn gamut from be-bop to swing!
There is a mystery to solve so he will do his thing!
And all cats applaud, and each and every mouse,
He’s the Boogie Woogie Big Band Cat of the Big Red House!

Goldie’s turn with help from Agnes and her tiny sax:
I’m no fool and don’t I know it – still -
Can’t crack this case, feeling blue
I’m perplexed and don’t I show it
Like a kitten without a clue
Stuck with same old thoughts I wrestle
Lately, I’ve not slept at all
Since this half-pint owly vessel
Took his murderous fall
I’ll try again
Beguiled again
A pondering, wondering PI again
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered, am I

Proper film noir would have a nightclub with a sultry female singing a torch song. But in film violet, anything is possible.
