I was just the opposite. My foks had to make me start shaving. I had heavy peach fuzz at 14 and that started the whole hideous routine that continues to this day. I would have a beard but my wife hates it so I apply cold, sharp steel to my face every day.
Does anyone remember when razor packs had the fake ‘dummy’ razors in the package with all the real ones? My dad used to put that on a blade and let me shave with him.Now my son watches me shave and I wish I could pass that along to him, but they don’t put the fake blades in there anymore. ::sigh::
Didn’t want to grow out my red, blond, and dark brown beard, so started one last October when I saw it was finally gray enough. Shaved it off as a Mother’s Day present after too much grief about it the previous two months. I have threatened to dye my hair gray to match my wife’s, since I have very little gray, which bugs her. At least she has stopped the bad dye jobs on hers. Almost as bad as Darrell Waltrip.
Teresa, I also let mine grow when I retired from the Army. Still shave it off in the Summer, to many little crawly things get in it, and mine is all gray of various shades. The kids love it between Thanksgiving and Dec 24th, especially when I don a red suit! Had one accuse me of not really being the Jolly Old Elf. Changed his mind real quick when I invited him to tug…gently, on the beard. “You’re REAL! You’re really REAL!” I hope he enjoyed his Christmas that year, because he was only about 7, and that wonder and innocence really needed to go on for a little while longer.
whats tougher a mans face, or a slab of granite? if you scraped a razor across a slab of granite for fourty years you would have a considerably smaller slab of granite. has anyones face gotten smaller in that same time, for that same reason??
I shave Monday at 8am. I get a 5 o’clock shadow on TUESDAY. Nice that I can shave every second day. (I usually shave Tues-Thur-Sat so I’m ‘clean’ for Church on Sunday.)
Heck! Don’t complain. I have been at it over half a century. My only complaint is the price of blades. Even though I have been shaving once a day, a good shave improves my attitude. Does yours?
