All three of my former ferals are about 10 now, with every one of their needs always lovingly provided, and one still can’t completely shake her early fear imprinting. We just make sure she gets space and safe hideouts when she needs, and cuddles and head skritches when she needs.
My dog Sophie, who is a HUGE German Shepherd mix, has designated the hallway, my bedroom, and behind the couch are “safe places” during thunderstorms. She is deathly afraid of thunder, and acts like the world’s biggest baby during a storm. But I love her to death anyway.

This comic is inaccurate. Cats don’t actually use the house you get them. They find more enjoyment out of a cardboard box.

In earlier episodes you had a rabbit; Do you still or did you have a rabbit? Instead of or with your cat?

It’s not just safety. It’s having a place of concealment from which to watch one’s prey.
