At first, I thought Hobbes was the conning type. I’m glad I was mistaken.

It would make for a more up-to-date version of Monopoly. They might need to print more money though.

Good Mornimg, Marg, Mike & ♠Lonewolf♠!

Aha, I’ll bet your financiers all read this particular cartoon when they were young, and when they grew up, put the example into practise in the last few years.

margueritem (marg) has not posted anywhere on gocomics since 3/8. Has she, like Commenter Hobbes gone on sabbatical? I hope she is OK and comes back soon.

It’s interesting that in this strip we have one of those few occasions where Calvin turns and speaks to the audience.

Florchi - We’re all wondering the same.

There’s the “Here and now” edition. It’s basically the same game, with the same denomination and prices, but with everything bumped up. (100 is now 1.00 million, for example.)

The thing about monopoly is that it’s only deathly long if you have your own rules (like the free parking money). If you stick to the official rules, it averages only a few hours.

Regarding “Margueritem” & “Hobbes’ ” absence, I have known some individuals who post comments masquerading as different people.

It gets particularly interesting when they get involved in a conversation between the multiple personalities.

    – Not that that’s what’s happening here, just another possibility…

Personally, I don’t like it when they break the fourth wall (i.e. look at and speak to the audience).

For me Calvin and Hobbes are real people. The line could just as easily have been said by Calvin to Hobbes. That would have been just as funny.

NB: It is very rare for me to find even the tiniest thing about a C&H cartoon that isn’t pitch perfect. Bill Watterson was a TOTAL GENIUS.

Mister Ed, you are right about “posers” but Marg is too adult to do something that childish. Marg is Marg. :-)

@ somebodyshort=== Waterson’s observations are frequently ahead of his time….the beauty of a website like gocomics “re-running” this strip is that we can appreciate exactly how much of a genius Watterson is.

There have been a couple of times where Calvin makes a comment to the audience at the end but I can’t recall them both turning. I always liked the first half of monopoly where you race for the properties but the second half was a bit tedious after a while.
