If there was a Counter-Earth it’s presence would eventually be detected. Counter-Earth’s gravitational influence on the other planets would cause those planets to deviate from the orbits that would be expected from a single Earth. College athletes who are on scholarship are paid, what amounts to as much as $50k/year. This is pretty good for 18-21 year-olds whose only skill is playing a game. Only some of the very best would make more in a free market. Of course the coaches and administrators are the individuals who do best in the current system. But actually a lot of the revenue from the big-time sports goes to support the overall educational enterprise. If you won’t pay for this with taxes, you pay for it with cable-TV fees and other revenue streams of the major sports.
