Just let them be your reminder to enjoy your last few days of vacation!

Get in the habit now! Maybe it was growing up poor (our first TV was a gift —reconditioned trade-in) but, while some were fun to watch, TV ads never had selling power over me.

Way back, before the Internet, before iPods, before VHS, before 8-tracks, I bought a toy based on TV ads. Didn’t work and the seller wouldn’t replace it. Older and wiser now.

I am in CA and the kids started school this week. Since I was a 50s child we didn’t go back till the day after Labor Day. They don’t get a real summer vacay anymore. Not sure what the rest of the country is like or if it’s still the same back east but out west not so good. Heck August is the hottest month here. We have warnings out for this week for heat advisory’s as we will be 106’s and all the way up to 108 or 109….can’t imagine having to go the school.

It has been years since our schools waited ‘til after Labor Day to start. They have so much teaching for test preparation now that they can’t waste time. I think I’d hate school now.

Slowly, so as not to alarm anyone, it will work up till in order to use the schools more efficiently and cost effective, the schools will be open 12 months a year and shorter vacations will be staggered through the year for groups of students…
