Well, I can tell you about the UAW local that deliberately voted themselves out of a job. GM stamping plant in Indy. For Sale. New owner wanted to negotiate new contract. UAW International was willing to go along, to preserve the jobs. No new contract, no sale. The local union members - the folks actually working at the plant - decided they didn’t want to work for $16/hr as opposed to $32/hr. So, no sale, and GM is closing the plant at the end of the year. So, now the local’s members will get $0/hr. Go figure. And then there’s the company I used to work for. Voted union in (the issues were ones the company had no control over, BTW). Company lost contract with school system (other company underbid them by $2million), due in part to union pay scale. Funny part - the new company recognized the union after they won the contract… and now the turnover is so high, they’re having issues even fulfilling the basic contract. Nope, not union. No union can protect your job. Fired for cause? Nope. Company goes out of business? Nope. All they can do is take your money and spend it on themselves.

I was non-union. My job went to India. I won’t mention the company’s name but their initials are United Rentals. Bustards!

I like the way that lawyers, insurance people, accountants, real estate types, etc, are always depicted as vultures!!!
