When I was very young, liver and onions was my computer name. Since I’ve gotten older I have been known to order it in a diner. With enough ketchup it tastes good. Another thing I couldn’t eat that now tastes good is cottage cheese. One last thing I can’t eat that I keep hoping someone will provide a good cooking style for is Brussel sprouts.

OK, I admit I’m not Latino (although I am married to one … and grateful for it) but I have a hard time believing anyone’s parents ever told them THAT mentira … LOL!

Brussels Sprouts are a Veggie family disgrace! Any preparation/alternations to make them palatable is not worth the time!

When very young, the kid would refuse to eat fish. We bought orange roughy and told him it was “roughy shark.” He happily bit the shark.

As a kid, I would rather starve than eat liver. I would eat just about anything else except liver or pea soup.

Basic training in the middle of winter at Ft. Dix cured my aversion to both.

Now, I love good pea soup, and while I’m still not a great fan of any type of liver, I do like calf’s liver smothered in onions, topped with bacon and served with mashed potatoes & gravy – if it’s properly cooked.

There are SO many other foods that are nutritious and taste good. Most kids will eat a variety of food, there in no reason to force them to eat food they hate.

Some vegetables like Brussels sprouts and broccoli are best raw in salad or steamed smothered in cheese.

In one Calvin & Hobbes strip, Calvin’s father agreed with him that he shouldn’t eat his dinner, as it was actually a plate of radioactive slime that would turn him into a mutant. Calvin couldn’t scarf it down fast enough.
