My son’s father-in-law just passed on after spending a lot of time unconscious on a respirator. He left no medical power of attorney and a will dated 1978. He coulda used some end-of -life counseling. Of course the anti health care reform people seem to think we should get our end-of-life counseling from a private, for-profit insurance company via a denial of services form letter .

I thought this end-of-life counseling issue had been discussed and debunked so much that even Lisa Benson could understand it.

Ms. Benson is saying that Obama is dumping the economy.

    What a stupid statement!

She’s right! It’s time to take a good look at the economy again…we’ve just handed $700B to those who don’t need it–we need to revisit that to bring the economy back to good health

So don’t knock Lisa for being confused about that “debunking”, ee….everything Lefties say is confusing, because it always ends up being exposed as a prevarication.

She’s just aware that Boehner, if granted real power, will pull the plug on the economy that Reagan/Bush policies put on life support.

Obama’s trying to dump the economy? I guess she means all those tax cuts for the top two percent are silent killers.

    The cartoonist is an idiot.

    HB’s article confirms it.

    A couple of quotes:

In the September poll, 30 percent of Americans 65 and older said the new health-care law allowed a government panel to make decisions about end-of-life care for people on Medicare.

The law has no such provision.

The new rule says Medicare will cover “voluntary advance care planning” to discuss end-of-life treatment as part of the annual visit.

Under the rule, doctors can provide information to patients on how to prepare an “advance directive,” stating how aggressively they wish to be treated if they are so sick that they cannot make health-care decisions for themselves.

”Early advance care planning is important because a person’s ability to make decisions may diminish over time, and he or she may suddenly lose the capability to participate in health care decisions,” the lawmakers have said.

In a recent study of 3,700 people near the end of life, Dr. Maria J. Silveira of the University of Michigan found that many had “treatable, life-threatening conditions” but lacked decision-making capacity in their final days.

With the new Medicare coverage, doctors can learn a patient’s wishes before a crisis occurs.

    Heinous, absolutely heinous.

Lisa uses facts about the Obama-Medicare black ops to add a paid service that Congress stripped from the original Obamacare bill….end-of-life “counseling” intended to RATION SERVICES and RATION MEDICARE SPENDING….with government “panels” deciding who gets care and who is refused. Patients, their families and personal doctors, will lose the power to make decisions in private….away from the bureaucrats who plan to decide for each citizen whether to treat patients to save life or to withhold treatments to shorten lives.

^ not one iota of truth in what you posted. Do you even care what is true, what is factual and what isn’t? Is being “right” thinking so important to you that distortion and misinformation is to be glorified?

another article reporting the truth about the Obama administration’s end run around Congress to install Big Brother Fed Gov deciding end-of-life “care”……with warnings also in this editorial at the url above.

this is the bureaucracy exercising powers they do not have authorization by Congressional laws to do! and this is the plan for the Obama administration to do what they please even after Congress either votes it down or strips it from bills that do pass. Everything on Obama’s agenda can (they think) be done by agency “regulation” or by Executive Orders from the Oval Office!

    can you spell “dict-a-tor”?

disgustedtaxpayer sent us a link, 3 days ago http://www.ocregister.com/common/printer/view.php?db=ocregister&id=281948

Their link is to a specially formated version of the page meant for printing without all the adverts and spam links to other articles at “the Orange County Register” which is what it says at the top of the page in this form. However, if you click the “return to article” link at the top to see more about The Orange County Register, you will see that this “article” is not from the news section, but rather from the OPINION section, and as such is the OPINION of where we are going from the point of view of the Author(s) who are uncredited, but obviously the editor(s) of the OCR. Now Editors and owners of publications NEVER have biased opinions and NEVER put into print things in opinion statements that are not pure facts. If you believe that, I have a bridge you might be interested in for a very low price…
