Journalists today are a joke. Republican Rep Kevin McCarthy said that the Dems shouldn’t linger on investigating Trump. Benghazi ring a bell Rep McCarthy???? Of course nobody called him on it as they are all like the Enquirer or one of those fake news magazine shows on TV.
That sums up the American attention span in general, although Trump takes it to an extreme. One hopeful sign-he seems to have increased the attention span of a lot of his opponents. Speaking of his opponents, don’t he and Mueller seem to be polar opposites in many ways? Mueller served in Vietnam (after waiting a year for a knee injury to heal so he could enlist) and was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He graduated from Princeton, NYU and The University Of Virginia. He’s been married once, since 1966. He has integrity and keeps his mouth shut. There’s more, but this country obviously needs a lot more dedicated public servants such as him.
“I am not a crook.” A tweet that would be a lot more false for Trump (and much if not most of his cabinet for that matter) than it would have been for Nixon, whose crimes were mainly while being a politician.
There are problems in the real world that are too big for an uncompromising Congress to solve but to retreat into an alt-reality where climate change is not happening and the resident is innocent of all crime, to avoid working together on tough problems, seems delusional, perhaps insane.
Yeah Mueller is a Republican. I’m not worried about the Democrats nominating him, I’m terrified that the Republicans might. But, that’s kind of a knee jerk reaction to anything Republican ( a term I equate with sleazy). If Mueller was the Republican candidate, I would consider voting for him. But if he were elected, the other Republicans in DC would shred him before he was in office for two months.
Back in the 60s, news media was seen as a service performed for the public good. Today, it’s a profit center. Editorial decisions are made on what will garner the most views and/or clicks along with protecting the political establishment who in turn protects the corporate interests of the media companies.
No, if Watergate happened today it’d be buried as a witch hunt by the fake news media. Ailes was successful in creating a media apparatus to shield the Republican Party at the expense of the republic itself: https://gawker.com/5814150/roger-ailes-secret-nixon-era-blueprint-for-fox-news
Oh please. There has always been sensationalist journalism along side serious investigative journalism. And there still is. What is the point of this reductio ad absurdum cartoon?
The point is that too many news outlets “report” the issue of a tweet as though (a) tweets were newsworthy and (b) we need journalism to point us to tweets that anyone can find themselves.

And of course, with the POTUS tweeting out his guilt almost every day, why do you need investigative reporters?

Like Watergate, follow the money to the German bank that washed Russian mob money and loaned it to Trump.
Follow the 30 million in Russian oligarch money to the NRA who gave it to Trump.
Follow the Russian gangsters who purchased Trump apts to wash money.
The Dems have the political will to do it.

Who needs facts when we have Trump tweets?
