No, Democrats have wisely decided against running against Trump personally and are running on addressing local issues and against corruption. Just because they don’t have a “national” emphasis, like the Republican’s MS-13’s stance, doesn’t mean they are incompetent.
That is the problem with the Democrats. They really need to step up and address the major issues with some degree of party cohesiveness. They are trying to lead our country, they need to provide a platform that leads.
^ @Meatpuppet. Yes, the Dems can hold up the economy as a negative. Real wages as adjusted for inflation are DOWN since Trump took office. Student loan debt and non-payment are at all time highs because of the lack of good paying jobs. The “great” economic indicators only prove the 1% are doing well. Unemployment rate is low only because of people giving up or taking low paying jobs out of desperation.
Ted, of the three ideas you mentioned, the only one that would appeal to a lot of voters is Medicare for all. $25 minimum wage would scare a LOT of people, especially those that own small businesses. Many people that worked their way up to that amount over many years would resent it and feel cheated. Running on impeachment would indicate to people that important things that need to be worked on would get put aside to focus on more hearings. It looks more like revenge than justice.
The Democratic Party has a very wide range of issues and the candidates should reflect the wishes of their local constituents. The reason that there are so many representatives is that different parts of the country have different needs and wants.
