Are Human and CK the same posters? They both have it right.
How can the Prez deal with the newly elected congress in a more effective way without shredding the unworkable mess made by our forebearers in constructing our government.
If anyone knows, please pass on the word.
Oliphant’s contribution is to throw mud and racially profile some of the folks involved.
Don’t know why a satirist of Pat’s standing should worry about being PC. At least Obama is not standing out in front of the mansion with his hand out, offering to hold the Owner’s horse.
It’s absurd for Oliphant to bring in race to his criticism of Obama’s kowtowing [non PC term?] to the GOP. Does any one really believe that if Obama were white he would have acted differently, when faced with a spineless Senate that refused to force the GOP into a true filibuster if they wanted to block legislation?
Oliphant is a great caricaturist–this is a lazy shortcut in picturing Obama–his Boehner is true art.
Okay, allowing for all sorts of considerations, shouldn’t the tradesmen’s entrance be in the back, off the alley? Servants and/or slaves weren’t allowed to use the front of the house, were they? And shouldn’t that be the butler at the door?
I have problems with the use of “Yowzah” too. For one thing, I spell it “yowzaa”, but that’s how it goes. However, I use it as a general, “Golly gee”, “Holy mackerel”, “Who’d a-thunk it?” kind of expression.
I recently received, from a Republican/Christian/super patriot gentleman, a photoshopped picture of Pres Obama shining the shoes of Sarah Palin. This is the kind of trash that is creating the division of people in different political parties. I heard myself speaking to myself just recently “I just hate Republicans” Of course it was just a moment of anger at whatever I was reading, as I really just don’t understand their thinking just as they don’t understand mine.
Though agreeing with Oliphant’s criticism of Obama’s policy, his cartoon is blatantly racist. Race has nothing to do with the policy. Leave out “Yowzah” and the toon is okay, but the gratuitous use of such a raciallly stereotypical term is unmistakably racist. Mocking Obama as a lackey of the rich is fair game, but portraying Obama as Step’n’fetchit is a disgrace. Oliphant has been veering toward open racism for some time and this is just too much. I and several friends have permanently deleted Oliphant from our lists of cartoonists to view. Shame on Oliphant.
No more racist than Spike Lee’s satire “Bamboozled”. I can imagine how Harry Bellafonte or Danny Glover would react to this, the two called Powell and Condy Rice “house slaves”.

Wait.
“Yowzah”?
Am I the only one freaked out by the use of the term “Yowzah”?
At least the rich dude isn’t calling him “boy.”
alan.gurka over 13 years ago
Maybe, instead of “Yowzah,” he should be saying, “Yessuh, massah.” This thread has been running along for a while, now, in Oliphant’s cartoons.

Definitely racist! And I thought the Far Left wasn’t racist. SHAME!
Josephus79 over 13 years ago
The far left has been extremely racist, historically, as Dr. Oliphant can attest from his original “Oliphant Book”.
