    Reminds me of an old Hank Williams song.

    I went into a home one day just to see some friends of mine Of all their books and magazines, not a Bible could I find. I asked them for the Bible. When they brought it, what a shame! For the dust was covered o’er it, not a fingerprint was plain.

    Hey, maybe we’ll get some info on Walt’s ancestors now.

    I hope they xerox the genealogical pages too. Then take the original Bible, put it in a plastic zip-lock bag and put it in a safe deposit box. I’m not kidding. Records like that should not get lost.

    My parents once tried to track their genealogy. Mom’s family was easy, from Salt Lake; Dad’s disappeared into the haze of time when the cabin (in Virginia?) had burnt down, with the family Bible containing all such records.

Clovia you may want to record on computer but then computer’s can crash, Please record on new bible. Computer technology changes soon cd roms will be outdated and another type outside little junk drive will end up being outdated.

    Do not put in a plastic bag, needs air to circulate around it The genealogy should be copied and given to each member of the family and stored in several formats, the most durable will be the written words.

    @Gene Strattmann, try this page.

    I once tried to turn away a Saturday morning porch-and-doorbell preacher, and as I was closing the door, he said, “Do you even have a bible in your house?”

    I said, “Which one would you like? King James? New International? Swedish? Icelandic? Original New Testament Greek? Latin Vulgate? Dead Sea Scrolls?

    (For the record, I’m not a Christian.)

    Thanks, runar, for the reference. There are many many family members who haven’t been heard from for a while. Should make good material for future story arcs. It’s interesting that there are so many adopted children.

    If I were a single cartoon guy– and I’m not saying I am– I would be calling on Clovia.
