I am also still a holdout for a real tree. And, yes, Douglas fir if possible. Got ours yesterday, and it’s a forest giant – full and wide.

Just the scent of a true tree makes up for the clean-up problems of the needle drop and the water checking .

My tree has a pump bulb that sprays Real Artificial Pine Scent© right out of the branches!

We got our Douglas Fir on Saturday. My lovely female accomplice wanted a spruce because she heard they don’t dry out as quickly as other trees, but the first 3 places we looked didn’t have any spruces so we got the Douglas Fir. She’s happy with the tree we got though, so I’m happy too.

I’m stuck with the cheapy plastic tree too, Heart. With my young kids, I couldn’t deal with the temptation a real tree would give them.

aircraft-engineer, growing a tree for decoration, thinning out forests, yes.

Spruce does dry out faster than fir or pine, so MisngNOLA, enjoy your Douglas Fir :)

Wouldn’t dream of a fake tree here. Got a fir last year, a really nice one, My favourite is red spruce and if you fell it really late the needle drop isn’t a problem. (we don’t set up the tree here until Dec. 23 and take it down Jan. 6th)

I’d reprogram that Baby Jesus. It wouldn’t sing 30 songs, but 31. I’d slip in Highway To Hell by ACDC.
