First off, it’s a solar system. Second, is this cartoon saying Babs responsible for all these wars the House of Bush starts? And wasn’t Jeb supposed to be the smart one?

I’m thinking the artist is trying to say that Mrs. B was the center of THEIR universe. Whatever else can be said about the Bush family (and I did not share most of their political views), there is no question about the charitable part of their lives. After son Marvin almost died of what is called ‘toxic megacolon’, as a result of the ulcerative colitis he had, the Bushes quietly contributed a lot of money to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, the only private organization in the US trying to find the cure for those diseases. I’m a member; my father and grandfather both died of Crohn’s and I’ve come close. I can’t say that the Bushes are the center of my universe, but they are one of the stars in it…

Imagine what the US would be like if she had been president instead of her husband … she was definitely more current.

    " …

Some famous people are much less interesting in person than you would expect. Some are more interesting. And a few—a very few—rock your world. For me, Barbara Bush, who left us on Tuesday, occupies that last category, almost by herself.

Many of the tributes to the former first lady portray her as a throwback to an earlier era of American politics, the silver-haired doyenne of a political dynasty. But I came to value her for an additional reason. Her country changed dramatically during her long, full life. But even as some in her Republican Party recoiled from those shifts, Barbara Bush never ceased questioning, learning, and adapting—changing along with the nation that she and her family served.

Maybe we should have had Barbara Bush as president both times.

I’m guessing Clinton gave a heart-warming speech about Barbara Bush. I see no other reason for someone like Rogers to pay homage to someone like her.

I get that. My mother was the star my 3 sisters and I orbited around. She passed away last year and we are doing our best. Maybe now we are the Pleiades. Though I think there were 7 of them.
