He wouldn’t be leaving now if he hadn’t accumulated enough wealth to change his entire life style when he goes home. He’s accomplished his purposes…. To deprive widows, elderly, and disabled of healthcare and Welfare programs…. And get rich enough that he’ll never have to work another day in his life unless he blows all that money that the Koch brothers gave him for his political support of their agenda.

His principles ghosted him when America elected a black man to be president. Maybe he’ll find them when he leaves Washington – he has done enough damage to the people of the United States. Now he’ll find his principles.

I doubt seriously Ryan will do anything genuinely principled. He’s being given credit for saying a few statements early on — he was one of the “fiercest critics of Trump at first,” right, nonsense. Actions speak louder than words. He would ALWAYS do exactly what it required for him to survive, and say whatever he could get away with to pretend he was a wonk and a principled person. He is neither. The economic plan he proposed, besides being absolutely brutal from a moral point of view (so much for being “Catholic” – the Pope would like to have a word with you!), didn’t add up. Either he’s an idiot pretending to be smart, or he doesn’t care as long as he gets to stay around. People like this, entirely driven by survival and image, do not suddenly turn into principled warriors. He doesn’t even know what a principle looks like.

And let’s not forget that Ayn Rand had no principles at all — she tried to redefine massive personal selfishness as a principle. No, that’s the opposite of a principle, which is something you do despite personal temptation, because it is the right thing to do.

    Ah, the principles:

When he was running for VP with Willard the ChickenHawk, he presented a budget that would address the deficit and debt. When it was pointed out that it was not close to being balanced he said well, we haven’t run the numbers yet.

(Ryan is who Republicans look to for all deficit reduction issues.)

    .

He posed in front of a manufacturing plant that was closed before Obama took office and blamed Obama for the closure. When the actual closure date was pointed out, he claimed that it was after Obama took office — Ryan wanted to be part of the standards setting group for Republican lies and was demonstrating technique.

    .

Supposedly Catholic and devoted to Ayn Rand, he didn’t know she was an atheist. But he took full advantage of the opportunity to practice his hypocrisy — a critical skill needed to ‘lead’ the Republican House, and also to fully support Trump and become a Disciple.

    .

In a recent interview, he claimed the Republican tax cuts for the rich was tax ‘reform’.

    .

And now, after getting all that ‘tax reform’, he’s quitting — you know, to spend more time with his family.

    ===

Ryan provides solid evidence that the root problem is the Republicans and Trump is only the most visibly malignant symptom.

This cartoon implies that Paul Ryan ever had any principles, which is false.

A pleasure to see him go. It means I don’t have to vote for a Dem in November. Unless Nehlen somehow gets the GOP nomination.

BRASS ORCHID, the tax cut bill which passed was approved by Republicans for their DONORS, not their constituents – the Repubs said that clearly. Repealing ACA, which provided the financial support for many to get health insurance that couldn’t get it before, would not have been a “good thing for most people”. Covering preexisting conditions, covering people until 26 on their parents’ policies, and elimination of annual / lifetime caps were long overdue and should NOT be eliminated.

Brass Orchid, in a self-reply states: “What I can say with certainty, is that the years from 2009 to 2016 showed no improvements in the economy, the welfare state, the national debt or the state of deficit spending.”

That BO can state that is absolutely incredible. The amount of denial that requires is immense. Even Trump was bragging about the economy in 2017, which was REALLY still Obama’s economy. The debt and deficit have gone up, but that is because of the refusal by Republicans to raise taxes on the wealthy; just eliminating the “carried interest” loophole that allows billionaire hedge fund managers to claim their INCOME as capital gains would make a HUGE dent in the debt and deficit.
