Fairly quick on the uptake, is little Calvin.

Maybe if Calvin knew today was National Donut Day (see today’s Garfield), he could’ve used that for his excuse for not eating dinner (and yes, I am clearly aware that this is a 30-year old strip, but the idea still applies).

Calvin figured out really fast he wasn’t in charge this time.

When it’s meal time I sometimes feel like I should have a small notebook and pencil. I keep telling them, “You all get gruel and you’ll like it!”

Then they pan over to the dad who says “Hey, she’s mean to me too”

I am so sick of Mothers in comics being so damn mean!!

I still prefer his father’s less confrontational approach when he told him “Good idea Calvin, it’s a plate of toxic waste that will turn you into a mutant if you eat it.”

I usually eat ginger snaps in front of the TV. I like the spicy taste.
