Trivia question: What weighs more, an ounce of Gold or an ounce of sand?

Answer: The ounce of Gold. Gold is measured in Troy ounces which are about 10% heavier than the Avoirdupois ounces which are used to measure sand. But, by the same token, a pound of gold weighs less than a pound of sand since the Troy pound only has 12 of its ounces in it whereas the Avoirdupois pound is made up of 16 of its ounces.

Some farmers harvest the worms and sell them either at their own bait shop or to the local one.

I knew a guy in school. Named “Rich Farmland.” I think he sells worms now.

an ounce of pure copper can also be extruded to a wire more than 50 miles long and approximately 1/4 the thickness of the average human hair. (my father worked for a wire manufacturing company in the 1960s, and I got to see the process, some of the smaller cables produced contained more than 500 strands of copper wire yet the outside diameter of the insulation was less than 1/2 inch)

In much of North America, earthworms are an invasive species. State Departments of Natural Resources ask people not to release unused bait in some areas.

According to the American Museum of Natural History website: “Gold is so malleable that a single ounce of it (about the size of a quarter) can be beaten into a thin continuous sheet measuring roughly 100 square feet.”

I guess that might explain why we don’t go fishing with bait cows…
