My favorite is the “pretend to throw the ball” trick. After two or three times though the dog catches on and just stares at you as you go through the motions. As far as cats go, two words; laser pointer.
Oh, Taffy understands perfectly what he’s saying. She was advised by the service dog agency that he has these psychotic breaks periodically and it’s safest, for everyone, to just play along.

The use of a modified organism, Toxoplasmosis Gondii which infects the brain did the first part of the job. First used on Birdwell Island.)
