My tastes in music are eclectic: from classical to classic rock with a fond spot for swing era music (no, I’m not that old, but have a lot of friends who are). In no way do I consider RAP to be music, but that’s just a personal taste.

There really isn’t much wrong with a lot of the music today except that it is boring. Every song has the same electronic bouncy beat which is OK for about two songs. After that it becomes as monotonous as a pile driver and gives me a headache. I can live with it if it is well-dispersed in a mix, but as a steady stream: let me put it this way – we actually left a restaurant because of it. It was 6 PM on a weeknight. As “background” music on Friday night at the bar, it probably made sense.

Aunty, that 1960’s radio also has an “off” button.

Today’s popular music is tomorrow’s classic, just as today’s classical music was yesterday’s popular music. See how that works?

Be Bop and other Jazz. And Bossa Nova. And classical, especially bassoon concerti.
