    The answer to the given question is that turning the page and writing are not the same action. Turning the page from right to left advances to the writing under it from left to right. As to why European alphabets go one way while others go the other, it’s mainly a question of what works best for right-handed people, given what writing instrument was in use when the language started being written. Brushes work best right to left; pens work best left to right.
