That must have been Edgar Allen Poe after he awakened in the family crypt alive, but irrevocably changed by his mysterious “mother” who infected him so that he may move beyond the mortal boundaries of thought and sanity. Even now he may turn into a giant black spiderish being to feed on marrow and spinal fluid. Or so some of the more extravagant and weird stories told of him after his death in 1849.
