Trump paid attention to the evangelicals? They are providing political cover for him. He is the answer to the prayers they prayed against Obama for 8 years. Trump knows how to play the conservative faith leaders who have cast themselves as victims besieged by a sense of victimization in a hostile world. He won the presidency party because of it. But, as much as evangelicals appreciate their alliance with Trump, the “mulligan” is only good once. In theological terms, Trump must go forth and sin no more. That’s a lot to ask any politician. For Trump, it might take a miracle.
The one ABSOLUTE fact is that “Evangelicals” may be many things, but they ARE NOT NOW NOR HAVE THE EVER been “Christian” – at least not as outlined in the sense that they follow the teachings of Christ! Oh, they’re VERY forgiving of people so long as those people have an® after their names or espouse the same creed of division and hate as they – but heaven forbid when they get a “Democrat” in their sights! This was never so evident as when they supported an alleged pedophile over a Democrat in the Alabama special election for the U.S. Senate!
