Did you see the videos of border agents pouring out water bottles left along the trail for people trying to escape from Mexico? And laughing about it? Deporting people is one thing. Leaving them to die is another.
Of course the popular misconception fostered by the Republicans is that most Illegals are sneaking across the border through the deserts, when most arrive by air or on ships, and just never leave.
When I was on the state-employee bargaining team, I recall the schizophrenic nature of the “public protection” workers. The university and capitol cops, State Patrol officers, game wardens, and park rangers were like overgrown Boy Scouts, really dedicated to serving the public and being as helpful as possible. The prison guards, OTOH, were (perforce by necessity) about as brutal and hard-hearted as the felons they had to guard. Makes me wonder what kind of people are attracted to service in the Border Patrol.
Oh come on ….. can’t you see???? This is the newest service department for Tourism in the United States of America. This congenial gentleman and his cute little doggie are going to guide you around to all the best sites for food, drinks, and entertainment……UGGGGG!!!!! ……No wonder the tourism industry is tanking to the tune of 4.1 billion dollars in lost Revenue and the loss of 40000 tourism jobs, lost because no one is coming here of their own free will anymore….. Do you really think anybody really wants to come here, unless it’s a matter of life or death and they want Asylum. No one really thinks that bringing a child here to escape persecution and poverty will be a dream existence…. It’s a nightmare….. Not a sweet dream anymore!!!!
The people crossing our southern border are not terrorists. They pose no threat to our nation. They can be fleeing terror or seeking asylum or a better way of life. They do not wish us harm. The mindset of any agent who destroys a cache of water is cruel, hate filled, and murderous. To take glee in acting in such a manner should be immediate grounds for dismissal.
