The elephant can keep the shutdown as far as I’m concerned.

I hope Schumer got B(M)itche’s promise in writing and notarized.

Actually, I agree that the “shutdown” wasn’t the smartest way to proceed. Having said that, I understand the frustration which led to it. The majority leader in the Senate, Addison Mitchell McConnell Jr., has demonstrably shown his complete lack of concern for traditional “proper procedure” in the Senate. He has demonstrated, to my satisfaction, at least, that he believes (as the leader of his party believes) that if there is no hard and fast, written rule against a course of action, then that course may be followed with absolutely no regard to ANYONE outside of his core supporters!

The “nicest” evaluation I can make of Addy is that he was this way (not caring about ANY opinion outside the people that support him) long before the advent of Donnie, the ‘wonder’ president! Everyone who follows politics MUST be aware that being “soft-spoken” as Addison Mitchell McConnell Jr. most assuredly is (most of the time, anyway) DOES NOT equate with being reasonable!

Just like the ’50s, except now the Dixiecrats come from all over the country. They are still Republicans in disguise.
