After working in R & D at one of the well-known razor companies, for most people, 1 blade is sufficient. Each blade pulls the hair out a bit as it cuts and the following blade then cuts the pulled hair. The more blades, the lower the hair is cut until it is well below the skin’s surface. If you have straight hair, this is generally not a problem but for those who have curly hair, this results in “razor rash” and ingrown hairs that can no longer breach the surface of your skin. The curlier your hair, the fewer blades you should use. I recommend to my friends a single blade system, even if it means shaving a 5 o’clock shadow if one wants to go out in the evening. Your skin will thank you. Of course, the multiple systems sell for outrageous amounts and are great for the bottom line of the razor company.

You only need one. The rest are for the profit margin.
