The V-22 “Osprey” is classified as a VTOL via tilt-rotor technology. Has the best aspects of an airplane and helicopter. Vertical Lift & Take Off. The Canadians created a tilt-wing version of their very own. if you look at a photo of a V-22 their rotors are larger than one would see on an airplane of comparable size since they must also function as roto-wings (helicopter) while in that mode. All the ordinance is sequestered within the aircraft’s skin and can deploy as needed. Experiments started as early as 1950. In the 1970’s a smaller version an XV-17 was tested but never deployed. In the movie Resident Evil universe, Umbrella created their own version of a V-22.
