Gift giving can be very stressful. I was watching a K-drama where one character was explaining how giving something expensive can be a burden to the receiver especially if they are unable to match the gift’s value. Unfortunately, it is the same here. That is why I only participate in gift exchange at work because we set the price limit. But when it comes to family, no one should be burdened. Give because you want to, not to “win”. Poor Kim.
